In the southwest of the country, among abundant natural protection areas, rivers with crystal-clear and emerald waters, perfect for adventure and photography, you will find this Emerging Destination. It is home to inhabitants of ancient and current indigenous communities such as Inga and settlers from various parts of Colombia that strengthen the cultural diversity manifested through its history and gastronomy. It is called by some as the gateway to the Amazon with enormous ecosystems and natural landscapes, being a great reference for the biodiversity of the Colombian Amazon.
ESSENTIALS IN SAN JOSÉ DEL FRAGUA:
- Fraguita Portals: Two mountainous extensions that were formed when the Fraguita River managed to cross the rock and formed walls of about 50 meters high form side to side. It is also said that the walls are two beings who loved and worshiped each other. As they are staring at each other, at the end you will find the Lagrima del Gigante Waterfall.
- Cultural exchange with indigenous communities: Harmonization activities and knowledge of ancestral traditions.
- Fragua Chorroso River: enjoy recreational bathing in its refreshing waters, in its puddles, highlighting El del Puente, El Silencio, Las Lajas and Noventa.
- Protection Areas: it has large areas of high biodiversity, such as the Alto Fragua Indi Wasi PNN, the Serranía de los Churumbelos PNN and the Cueva de los Guacharos PNN, water potential of the basins of the Fragua Chorroso, San Pedro, Luna, Yurayaco, Fraguita, Sabaleta, and Fragua Grande rivers.
